Ramie band is a non-woven, vegetable-based fibre strip made from Boehmeria nivea (nettle family), valued in bookbinding and conservation as a strong, low-bulk sewing support.

This band is around three times stronger than cotton with almost no stretch and high drag ideal for reinforcing moving parts, sewing on, and reattaching boards. The thin band frays easily at the ends so it can be pasted down and blended into the cover so that it is almost invisible, and can be toned with acrylic paint to match the original material.
